Messier 37 in Auriga

This open cluster is approx 4,500 lightyears distant and 25 lightyears in diameter. It is the brightest and richest open cluster in Auriga, ahead of M36 and M38.

It contains over 500 stars and may be 450 million years of age.

This image is the result of 2h of RGB data capture from Horsham, over two evenings in January 2025. A ZWO ASI2600 MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
