NGC 7023 Iris Nebula in Cepheus
This reflection nebula is around 1300 lightyears distant and 6 lightyears in size. The dust that comprises the nebula gains its blue colour because it reflects the light from the blue-white star SAO 19158 at the centre. Dark nebulosity can be seen surrounding the blue reflection nebulosity.
The LRGB image is the result of approximately 5.5h of remote data capture from Utah, over three evenings in August and September 2024. A FLI ProLine PL11002M CCD camera was used, through a Planewave 20-inch CDK reflector.
