Messier 6 Butterfly Cluster in Scorpius

This open cluster is around 12 lightyears in diameter and 1600 lightyears distant. It consists of around 120 stars and is estimated to be around 94 million years of age.

This LRGB image is the result of 1h 20m of remote capture from New South Wales, over two evenings in April 2024. A 17-inch Planewave CDK reflector and Moravian G4 16000 camera were used.
