NGC 6791 in Lyra

This open cluster is the third most ancient known, at 8-10 billion years of age. Roughly twice as old as our solar system, it has survived dozens of circuits of the galaxy. Despite its unremarkable appearance, it is one of the most-studied clusters.

This RGB image is the result of 2h of data capture from Horsham over two evenings in July 2024. A ZWO ASI2600MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
