It is estimated that this open cluster contains over 500 stars and is around 20 lightyears across. It is around 2800 lightyears distant and age ranges vary between 3.2 and 5 billion years – so it could be as old as our solar system.
This image is the result of just over 2h of RGB data capture from Horsham, over two evenings in January 2025. A ZWO ASI2600 MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
