NGC 6300 spiral galaxy in Ara

This is a barred Seyfert spiral galaxy in the southern constellation Ara. It is 51 million lightyears distant and around 64,000 lightyears in diameter, so significantly smaller than our galaxy.

With an apparent size of just over 4 arcminutes, the galaxy is difficult to capture in any detail.

This LRGB image is the result of 3h of remote data capture from New South Wales, over 3 evenings in May 2024. An FLI Proline 16803 camera through a 20-inch Planewave CDK reflector was used.
