This barred spiral galaxy is around 33 million lightyears distant and 70,000 lightyears in diameter, and is part of the M96 Group of galaxies. The galaxy is distinctive in having a ring-shaped star-forming region surrounding the core. The spiral arms extend outwards from the ring.
The composition of this image deliberately includes an S-shaped line of brighter stars, starting from the left of M95.
