NGC 6709 in Aquila

This open cluster contains approximately 300 stars and lies towards the centre of the galaxy, so is shown in a dense star-field. It lies at a distance of around 3500 lightyears and is estimated to be 140 million years old.

This image is the result of 40m of RGB data capture from Horsham, on an evening in August 2025. A ZWO ASI2600 MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
