Messier 108 barred spiral galaxy in Ursa Major

Messier 108 is a spiral galaxy, but little of its structure can be seen because is is nearly edge-on as seen from Earth. It is around 46 million lightyears away and presents a long-axis of around 8 arcminutes.

This RGB image is the result of 9h 30m of data capture from Horsham, over 9 evenings in February and March 2025. A ZWO ASI2600 MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
