The two stars of iota Cancri are gravitationally related and approximately 300 lightyears away. They are separated by around 30 arcseconds and are noted for their colour contrast.
The brighter A star is a yellow G-type giant with an apparent magnitude of +4.02.
The fainter B star is a white A-type main sequence dwarf with an apparent magnitude of +6.57.
This RGB image is the result of 30 minutes of RGB data capture from Horsham, as 10-second exposures, on an evening in February 2025. A ZWO ASI2600 MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
