The Double Cluster consists of the open clusters NGC 884 (on the left) and NGC 869 (right). They are around 7500 lightyears distant and are 14 million years of age. Together, they have around 20,000 times the mass of our sun.
The image is the result of a 2-pane joiner, with just under 3h of LRGB data capture for each pane. They were taken over 2 evenings in December 2022 from Horsham. A ZWO ASI2600MM Pro monochrome camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien Cassegrain reflector.
