NGC 1566 in Dorado

This spiral galaxy is around 50 million lightyears distant and the brightest member of the Dorado group of galaxies. The spiral arms are symmetrical and in this image the fainter outer parts of the galaxy have not been resolved fully, because of the short data capture time.

This LRGBHa image is the result of 1h40m of remote data capture from New South Wales, over three evenings in July 2022, using a 20-inch Planewave CDK reflector and FLI Proline PL- 09000 camera.
