This is one of the youngest star clusters known, at around 14 million years. It consists of around 100 stars and is around 6400 lightyears distant. It was given its name by John Herschel, when surveying the southern sky from South Africa in the 19th Century.
This LRGB image is the result of 75 minutes of remote data capture from New South Wales, using a 17-inch Planewave CDK reflector and FLI Proline PL 16803 camera.
